Fresh Start smoking cessation course offered at Piedmont Henry Hospital
Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of disease, disability and death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Currently, approximately 19.5 percent of Georgia’s adult population still smokes.
To help curb smoking in Henry County, Piedmont Henry Hospital is offering a four-week Fresh Start program for those looking to quit smoking. The course, which is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is held on Tuesdays beginning May 7, 2013 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Foundation Education Center.
Individuals participating in the course receive helpful hints to aid in the stop smoking process. A Fresh Start instructor teaches techniques to overcome the physical and psychological need to smoke.
