Beyond the Ribbon Cutting: Why Supporting Your Local Chamber Powers Henry County's Prosperity
Beyond the Ribbon Cutting: Why Supporting Your Local Chamber Powers Henry County's Prosperity
When people hear the phrase "Chamber of Commerce," their minds often jump straight to ceremonial oversized scissors, ribbon cuttings, or early-morning networking breakfasts.
While celebrating new milestones and connecting community leaders are vital parts of what we do, they represent only the surface of our mission. Behind every program, committee meeting, and community initiative lies a broader purpose: serving as the economic catalyst, public policy advocate, and workforce convener for Henry County.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, our community will join hundreds of chambers across the nation to observe National Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day. Organized in partnership with the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), this observance is an opportunity to spotlight why investing in local commerce creates shared prosperity for every resident who calls Hampton, Locust Grove, McDonough, and Stockbridge home.
A National Movement with Hyper-Local Roots
Chambers of Commerce are unique institutions. We are not government agencies, nor are we conventional trade associations. We are independent, mission-driven organizations funded and propelled by the very business owners, nonprofit leaders, and corporate citizens who bet on Henry County every single day.
When you support your local chamber, you aren't just endorsing an office or a staff—you are championing the business ecosystem that underpins our local tax base, funds our parks and first responders, supports our school system, and creates sustainable career paths.
According to national research from the ACCE and leading public perception studies, consumer trust in chamber members remains remarkably high: consumers are 63% more likely to purchase goods or services from a business they know is an active chamber member. That trust is built on accountability, community investment, and shared values.
The Three Pillars Driving Our Work in Henry County
Every initiative launched by the Henry County Chamber of Commerce aligns with three core priorities:
- Economic Catalyst & Business Resilience | Starting and scaling a business comes with distinct hurdles, from navigating capital access to managing operational growth. Our Chamber provides direct resources, educational workshops, and peer advisory networks to help enterprises move from survival mode to sustained scale. Whether it is a legacy manufacturing enterprise expanding its footprint or a Main Street retailer opening their doors, we work to make Henry County Georgia's premier environment for enterprise.
- The Unified Voice of Commerce | Policy decisions made in our county commission and at the Georgia State Capitol shape how businesses operate every day. The Chamber serves as the collective voice for employers of all sizes, advocating for sensible infrastructure investments, competitive tax environments, and pro-growth policies that balance economic progress with quality of life.
- Convening Talent and Community | A growing economy demands a skilled, forward-looking workforce. The Henry County Chamber actively connects employers directly with Henry County Schools, Southern Crescent Technical College, and regional higher educational partners to align classroom curriculum with real-world industry demands. By bridging education and industry, we ensure our young talent can build rewarding, high-wage careers right here in their home county.
How You Can Participate on October 21
Support Your Local Chamber Day is designed to be participatory. Here are two practical ways you can get involved:
- Share Your Story on Social Media. If Chamber membership has opened doors, connected you to a mentor, or helped your business grow, share that story. Post on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtags #MyHenryChamber, #ChambersChangeThings, and #SupportYourLocalChamber, and tage our official page.
- Sponsor or Refer a Peer. Know an emerging entrepreneur or neighboring business that could benefit from our advocacy, visibility, and network? Invite them to join. A stronger membership roster strengthens our collective advocacy for all.
Standing Behind Those Who Build Our Community

— Joseph Henning, President & CEO, Henry County Chamber of Commerce
