VEX Tournament Volunteer help needed
On February 1st, Henry County Schools will be hosting two VEX IQ robotics tournaments—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We are currently seeking volunteers to help make this event a success. Both tournaments will be at the Academy for Advance Studies at 401 East Tomlinson Street McDonough GA 30253.
VEX IQ is a robotics competition for elementary and middle school students, and this year’s challenge involves working together to place balls into goals. There are four goals, and teams must collaborate to score as many points as possible.We have two areas to volunteer in – judging and tournament support.
The first is Judging. As a judge, you will interact with the students, ask questions, and assess their performance using provided rubrics. No prior experience is necessary to judge; the rubrics will guide you in understanding what to look for and what questions to ask. The students have worked diligently on their robots and engineering notebooks, and your feedback will be valuable in helping them improve and recognize their achievements.
The second area to volunteer is in tournament support. Tournament support is as a score keeper, inspector, welcome table or queuing person. All volunteer areas do not need prior knowledge and once shown what to do, everything has either a rubric or checklist that is easily followed.
The tournament times are as follows:
· Morning Tournament: 7:30 AM – 12:15 PM
· Afternoon Tournament: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

If you know of someone or a group that could volunteer, can you please forward this email on to them. The more volunteers the tournament has the smoother, it will run. Our tournament cannot happen without volunteers like yourself and others like you. We do provide a breakfast for the morning tournament and lunch for the afternoon tournament as well as refreshments as the day goes on for volunteers and judges.
