The Greater Henry County Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) - Chapter Meeting
Title: “Driving Organizational Change Through Conflict."
In an era of rapid change and uncertainty, workplace disruptions—whether due to shifting workforce expectations, social and economic pressures, or organizational self-imposed transformations—have become the norm. With disruption comes friction, i.e. misaligned expectations, resistance to change, and heightened workplace tensions. At BMS, we define this as conflict, the point where change is trying to happen. The number of decisions leaders have to make in uncertain situations are ripe for conflict. Yet, studies show conflict resolution is the most common developmental need for entry to senior level leaders. When conflict is left unaddressed or mismanaged, it does not just affect morale; it directly impacts productivity, engagement, and retention—ultimately costing organizations time, talent, and revenue. This session explores the leadership imperative at which entry-, mid-, and senior-level leaders must develop as a core competency to drive collaboration, manage tensions, and lead effectively in times of uncertainty. Though HR professionals play a pivotal role in shaping leadership development, HR isn’t exempt! We’ll dive into practical strategies to help HR leaders get equipped and equip their leaders with the tools to navigate conflict, build stronger teams, and foster a culture of productive dialogue.
Session Highlights:
