Field Service Technician II
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of duties in the turn on, shut off, installation, troubleshooting and servicing of residential and commercial water meters; the reading and recording of water meter readings using handheld and automated meter reading equipment; investigates and resolves customer complaints and/or inquiries regarding water services; installs, sets parameters, monitors and verifies the accuracy of readings from AMR/AMI equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Digs out and removes debris and dirt covering meter boxes and meters; replaces damaged lids and cuts vegetation preventing access to water services in accordance with ordinance.
- Locks water services and pulls meters in case of illegal water connection.
- Reads residential, commercial, and industrial meters using hand-held computers and/or AMR/AMI equipment.
- Installs, sets parameters, monitors and verifies the accuracy of readings from AMR/AMI equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment (ie: meter, register, MXU, meter box and lid).
- Performs water service turn-ons and shut offs up to 1”.
- Responds to a variety of service order requests using computers or other mobile devices.
- Removes defective or damaged meters up to 1”, installs new meter, and reattaches and/or reprograms MXU to prepare for proper reading.
- Assists customers in the resolution of service concerns.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
- Performs assigned duties in confined spaces when servicing large commercial meters.
- Works on-call on a rotating basis to handle customer issues/situations after hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
- Completes service orders using current reading and consumption data from AMI software when available.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Georgia Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
