Maintenance Supervisor
Position Overview: Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility including landscaping, and construction. Provide leadership and training for maintenance employees, community service workers and volunteers. Assure that projects are appropriately prioritized, and safe methods are followed in the daily operations. Ensuring all tasks are completed promptly and to the required standards Ensure maintenance, repair, and renovation needs of all areas, including animal habitats, buildings, and guest-accessible areas are being evaluated and addressed.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management

  • Provide leadership, prioritization and direction for maintenance staff, Community Service Workers and Volunteers to build, maintain, repair, and inspect areas of the animal sanctuary.
  • Oversee the performance of general maintenance duties including but not limited to exhibit repair and modification, electrical repairs and modification, plumbing repair and modification, carpentry, painting, masonry repairs and modification, automotive and equipment repair, welding, air conditioning repair, tool and equipment repair, lock repair and maintenance.
  • The ability to lead a maintenance team and volunteers.
Maintenance Operations
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities
  • Maintain the sanctuary’s property including animal habitats, buildings, grounds, fence(s), parking areas, appliances, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Ensure that all landscaping is continuously inspected, maintained and replenished to ensure the esthetic beauty and the safety of the surroundings of the Center.
  • Plan and implement preventative maintenance programs. Determine priorities for repair, maintenance activities, and construction/renovation projects to maximize productivity and cost effectiveness while minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Diagnose and perform routine maintenance, involving but not limited to the daily basis:
    • Repair fences, gates, electrical, plumbing, roofing, animal platforms, animal enclosures, doors, Interior / Exterior lights, Hotwire, Bush Hog, Grade driveway as needed, dispose of all trash from grounds, install bricks, maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and materials
Communication and Coordination:
  • Communicating effectively with team members and managers.
  • Providing technical assistance to other staff leads.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and addressing issues promptly.
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Developing maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Preparing reports and updates for management.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • May be responsible for submitting schedules and payroll
  • Any other duties as requested by the Director or team lead to assisting the team and park operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
  • High School graduate required. College, vocational or technical school studies / graduates are desirable.
  • Two years experience working on a farm or ranch
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of various maintenance trades (e.g. plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry)
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety regulations and practices
  • Ability to operate drills, band saws, chain saws and other small machinery
  • Ability to operate machinery – tractors, skid loader, zero turn lawn mower.
  • Must be able to lift and use heavy tools and/or machinery.
  • Basic knowledge of and compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must be able to work outside under a wide range of weather conditions, including but not limited to, direct sun, heat, and rain.
  • Must be able to work responsibly around animals.
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, weekends, and some evenings, as needed. Must be able to respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Driver's License and Driving record history must be good (Required)
