Henry County Board of Commissioners Honor Amateur Golf Legend Rusty Strawn with Recognition

HENRY COUNTY- May 7, 2024- Commissioners honored McDonough native Rusty Strawn with a certificate of recognition for his amazing accomplishments as an amateur golfer at this morning’s meeting. Strawn, is the CEO of Strawn & Co. Insurance and under his leadership, the family business has grown exponentially and recently celebrated 50 years in business.

 

Strawn has earned many awards and accolades in his career dating back to his days as a golfer at McDonough Christian Academy. He most recently won the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur, marking him as only the fourth Georgian to achieve the feat in the tournament’s nearly 70-year history. In addition to playing golf, Strawn has served as a mentor to many in the Henry County community, including District III Commissioner Dee Anglyn who said Strawn was his Sunday School teacher and golf mentor when he was young.

 

“Thank you for what you’ve done not only for the state of Georgia but for Henry County and for me as a good friend of yours,” said Anglyn.

 

The certificate read in part “Having a passion and talent for the game since childhood, Strawn went on to a successful career and after raising a family, honed his golf skills to become one of the best Senior Amateur Golfers on the circuit. The Henry County Board of Commissioners congratulates you for your many successes and wishes you the best in your future endeavors.”
