HCWA and Henry County Stormwater hosting Rivers Alive waterway cleanup on Oct. 7
The Henry County Water Authority (HCWA), in partnership with Henry County Stormwater, will be hosting the annual Henry County Rivers Alive cleanup on Wednesday Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at a site near Tussahaw Creek in Locust Grove.
The cleanup site is just southwest of the intersection of Lequin Mill Road and Sunset Drive. The nearby Tussahaw Creek feeds the Authority’s Tussahaw Reservoir, which provides raw water for drinking water production at the HCWA Tussahaw Water Treatment Plant.
This year’s theme of Henry County Rivers Alive is “Be the solution to water pollution!”
Henry County Rivers Alive is an official event of the Georgia Rivers Alive Campaign, which was established in 1999 as Georgia’s Annual Waterway Cleanup. Rivers Alive is an outreach program of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), which targets the protection of creeks, streams, rivers, lakes/reservoirs, beaches, and wetlands across the state.
The mission of Georgia Rivers Alive is to create public awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia’s water resources.
