HCWA Extending Drive-thru and Call Center Hours to 6:00 p.m.
Beginning on March 2, and continuing thru May 29, the Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) Customer Service Department will be extending its drive-thru and phone hours to 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
This three-month period will provide the Authority with ample data to gauge whether customer interest for extended office hours warrants keeping this schedule throughout the year.
The HCWA Customer Service Department is located on the first floor of the Authority’s Administrative Building at 1695 Highway 20 West in McDonough. Normal walk-in office hours will continue to operate from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. However, during the months of March, April, and May, HCWA customer service representatives will continue to field calls and take payments via the two drive-thru lanes until 6:00 p.m. during weekday evenings.
If HCWA customers prefer not to pay in-person at the Customer Service counter or drive-thru windows, they can pay their bill by phone, through the Authority website (www.hcwa.com), or via HCWA Bill-Pay Service, where customers can sign up to have their bill automatically drafted from their financial institution on a set day each month.
Fishing Season Starts Sunday March 1
In addition to having extended hours for paying their water/sewer bill, HCWA customers, as well as Henry County property owners or residents, can use the extended hours after work to purchase a Reservoir Use Permit to take advantage of public fishing at select HCWA reservoirs.
The 2026 HCWA Fishing Season opens on March 1 and continues through Nov. 29, when anglers (with a Georgia Fishing License) will have access to the Tussahaw and Upper Towaliga Reservoirs for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and boating with a non-gas-powered motor, on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during these months.
In addition to purchasing a Reservoir Use Permit at the Authority Headquarters in McDonough, customers can purchase a Permit online through the Authority’s website. Permits are valid for the calendar year(s) from the date of purchase. A one-year Permit is $50, while a two-year pass is $85. Discounts are available for seniors, citizens with disabilities, and active-duty military or veterans. A Reservoir Use Permit also allows the permit holder to bring a guest for free. Customers must sign a waiver before gaining access to the HCWA reservoirs, as well as adhere to HCWA and state rules and regulations governing the public use of these water resources.
Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center to open on Saturdays for a limited time
While gathering feedback from customers on their preference for extended drive-thru and phone hours during March, April, and May, the HCWA also will offer citizens access to the Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center on Saturdays during these months. Beginning on Saturday March 7, and continuing thru Saturday May 30, the Cubihatcha Center, located at 100 Collins Road in Locust Grove, will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on these select Saturdays. Guests can enjoy free access to three walking/hiking trails, bird watching, or a picnic in one of 10 outdoor pavilions.
HCWA water, sewer, or fishing customers can contact the Authority any time about Reservoir Use Permits or extended hours at 770-957-6659, or via email at customer.care@hcwa.com.
In addition, more information on fishing at the Tussahaw and Upper Towaliga Reservoirs, as well as outdoor recreation at the Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center, is available on the Authority’s website at www.hcwa.com.

The HCWA Customer Service Department will lengthen its weekday phone and drive-thru hours until 6:00 p.m. from Monday March 2 – Friday May 29, as a trial to gauge the interest of customers in extended operating hours.
