Representative David Scott earmarks funds for Henry County transportation project
HENRY COUNTY, GA—July 28, 2025—Representative David Scott recently announced that federal funds in the amount of $1.2 million have been allocated to Henry County for a major road resurfacing project. The funding is through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Community Project Funding Program.
The project includes resurfacing 3.5 miles of roadway on Panola Road between Fairview Road and State Route 155. Panola Road is a two-lane roadway and serves as a major east-west corridor, connecting the Fairview community and DeKalb County.
The Henry County Transportation Planning Department applied to Rep. Scott’s Community Project Funding Program for Fiscal Year 2026. Transportation Planning Director Sam Baker said the project will have a positive impact on both communities and businesses.
“There are numerous communities and businesses along Panola Road that will benefit from the resurfacing of this road, not to mention the motorists who drive the roadway,” said Baker. “The current pavement condition is rated as marginal and is great need of improvement.”
“I am proud to announce that the House Appropriations Committee is expected to provide $1,200,000 million in federal funding for the Panola Road Resurfacing Project in Henry County," said Congressman David Scott. "This vital investment will support the resurfacing of Panola Road from Fairview Road to State Route 155, an essential east-west corridor that connects residents to commercial centers, the City of Stockbridge, and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport. These improvements will enhance safety, ease traffic flow, and support continued economic growth in northern Henry County. I am committed to ensuring this critical project receives the funding it needs to move forward and am working with my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee to get this funding signed into law."
Rep. David Scott represents Georgia’s 13th Congressional District which includes a portion of Henry County. Congressman Scott has represented Henry County and the state of Georgia in Washington since 2003.
Rep. Scott previously assisted Henry County last year by securing $850,000 of federal funds for the resurfacing of East Atlanta Road. The county has recently completed the federal environmental requirements for that project and the county anticipates accepting construction bids for the East Atlanta Road resurfacing project in the near future.
