Powering Progress: CGEMC Invests Over $320K Back into Local Communities
JACKSON, GA – Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) Board Member Warren Holder recently presented the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Henry County Development Authority, and Henry County Board of Education with checks totaling $37,800 each in support of local education, community, and economic development efforts.
In total, CGEMC donated $328,270 in unclaimed capital credits across its 16-county service area this year. These funds were distributed through 24 contributions to Chambers of Commerce, School Boards, and Industrial Development Authorities, furthering the cooperative’s commitment to community advancement.
Each year, CGEMC allocates margins back to its members in the form of capital credits. When these credits remain unclaimed for five years, state law allows the cooperative to reinvest the funds into its communities. The dollars are then directed toward educational programs, workforce development, economic initiatives, and qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that create lasting local impact.
